I therefore only plan on finishing the following articles:
- An open letter to the DfT (which I will also email to them), in lieu of the PDF document, because I no longer have time to finish this document.
- Why I personally believe Britain should drive on the right. Yes, I am in favour of this change too, but this has nothing to do with metrication.
Should this change and I have more time to write articles, I will post another announcement saying so.
I will in any case maintain existing articles where necessary (corrections etc.), if I get the time.
Do you have a timeline for when the two posts you mentioned (drive right and dft letter) will be published?
ReplyDeleteI have some extra time. If you wish, I can complete the PDF for you. I would just need a file with all of the new signs that you've created, what you've done so far and if you made one, an outline about what themes you wanted to say, plus, how you want to be attributed. I support the idea of metrication, right side drive and simple signs.
DeleteSorry, I deleted the original comment because I clicked Publish too soon. Unfortunately blogger has no way of editing an original comment (unlike WordPress).
DeleteI have a rough timeline, in that I aim to publish the two posts within about six months, probably September or October.
That is really kind of you! If you could do that, I can then print it and send it off to the DfT.
DeleteI have prepared an initial draft (not complete) as well as a few images). Though I worry it is too big.
In the meantime I have made some new images.
I think we should meet each other and exchange our real email addresses first before we start, if that is okay.
And by meeting, I mean possibly meet over skype (you seem to be in Edmonton, I am in Böblingen).
DeleteThis is however going to be tricky - don't think we can exchange email addresses or skype user names here without others knowing (especially spam bots).
But as soon as we are done, I can give you all my pictures, the outline, and a draft so far, if you have time and are still interested.
I set up an email address at which anyone can email me. cyclinginedmonton@gmail.com. If you email me, then I would get your address. Don't use your own if you feel uncomfortable about that, but regardless, I don't have a skype account either, and no credit card. I have no idea where Boeblingen (at least I understand German grammar enough to know that umlauts can be replaced with an e) is, but I doubt it's near Bremen.
DeleteMy apologies for the delay in replying.
DeleteThank you for email eddress. I have also set up an email address for this blog, which is also public: globonsomeday@gmail.com.
I will send you first a quick email confirming who I am, and giving an outline of my blog, as well as my draft so far.
The next few emails after that will have ZIP files containing the images I made (I must warn you: I made loads, not all of them I have posted on my blog). I may have to split it into several emails due to size limits.
To give you an idea where Böblingen is, it lies 16 km to the south west of Stuttgart and is also in the state of Baden-Württemberg in the south west.
You are correct: one can write ä, ö, ü as ae, oe and ue respectively.
And yes, Böblingen is a very long way away from Bremen. About 484 km to the north of Stuttgart.
DeleteWell, I'm in Western Canada, probably around 10 thousand kilometres (why don't we use megametres or megagrams instead of tonnes?), and while I am coming to Europe in a few weeks after my 16th birthday, to France, Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany, I doubt that we will meet, especially given that the sour grape juice age is 16 in Belgium. Try sending the documents here: cyclinginedmonton@gmail.com.
ReplyDeleteYou worry about it being too big? And I thought that my blog posts are extremely long. I've read 213 page long documents about the Dutch models of road safety, I have a feeling like I can read what you can send.
Western Canada, where you are at is definitely a long way away.
DeleteYeah it would be nice to use megametres and megagrams, if we can convince everyone else to ;)
I hope you enjoy your holiday in Europe after your 16th - have fun :)
Yeah it looks like we are unlikely to meet during your visit.
That is true, the road safety documents are typically enormous. So I should not worry too much you are right.
I will mail you on the address you gave to me as soon as possible. Hopefully today.
@Cycling in Edmonton - Apologies for the delay, I finally had the time to send you the outline (which is in fact what I have done so far), and I also sent you a complete set of images, including images I have planned to post in new articles but didn't get time to do.
